What an incredible slap at the 500,000 men
who served so honorably during World War II.
Indeed, two of the major heroes of the Greatest Generation
were Italian-Americans:
Sgt. John Basilone, winner of both the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross,
and fighter pilot Don Gentile,
described by General Dwight D. Eisenhower as
a "one-man fighting force."
