When it came to his own ethnic heritage, Spielberg, who green-lighted "Shark Tale," produced the 1986 cartoon "An American Tail," featuring an heroic little mouse named Feival, a tribute to his immigrant grandfather. In a March, 2004 article in the New York Times, Spielberg likewise spoke out against "the dangers of stereotyping," especially when directed at children. Is Spielberg, who was once honored by the NAACP for promoting diversity, guilty of a double standard?
